Why We’re Here
As creatives, we are always caught between valuing our creative independence and needing the structure of a business to make a living. Throughout history we see businesses exploiting creatives because we are often better at our craft than at asset management. When we look for outside management we are vulnerable, however, alone is such a monumental struggle that it routinely drives creatives back into the mainstream workplace, sinking their potential. Moreover, a certain amount of collective effort is needed for the achievement of bigger and greater creations. By forming a publishing cooperative, we are working together as creatives to establish a business structure where we are in control of what we produce. We are the investors in ourselves and our respected peers. Together we elevate the quality of our work and broaden the range of work to include underserved markets because we publish what we believe the world needs and what we are passionate about, not what market research says the biggest demographics of consumers want. We create from who we are, not what others want us to be.
When work is released, we cooperate to better connect with the marketplace by doing things like establishing a singular brand and a central website so our audience can find us and find others like us. Our weird wonderful audience has been ignored by mainstream publishers long enough. You’ve searched in the back corners of bookstores and niches of the internet for your people.
